PROJECT MANAGER : Cyril DECROZE [ ]
This project aims to optimize wireless systems in terms of radio coverage and capacity.
This activity is based on the OSA department known-how regarding the propagation channel and antennas.
These studies are divided in 3 parts closely linked: the development of specific tools dedicated to electromagnetic coverage and digital communication simulations, the study of MIMO systems and the deployment of experimental demonstrators.
The aims of this project is to optimize wireless communication systems in terms of radio electric coverage and capacity. These studies are divided in 3 parts closely linked:
- Propagation channel characterization:
- Development of simulation tools for multi-antennas (MIMO) wireless transmissions.
- Study of MIMO systems and deployment of experimental demonstrators ( WiMAX Single Carrier , WiMAX OFDM, ...)
Transmission simulators include propagation channel, antennas in their context (3D measured and simulated antenna patterns, mutual coupling, ...) and digital base band processing
Ex : WIMAX - OFDM - MIMO chain
- Measurements of MIMO systems performances in real environment, associated with signal processing
- Experimental propagation channel characterization (angles of arrival, impulse response, ?)
- Experimental evaluation of wireless communication systems performances (WiMax, WiFi, Zigbee, UMTS, ?)
Diversity measurement in reverberation chamber
