The group "Gas-Phase Photonic & Microwave Materials" (GPPMM) of the institute Xlim has the scientific objectives of creating a new research activity in the frontier of the photonics, materials and microwave based on gaseous media (molecular gases, atomic vapors or ionized gases). This theme is based on the pioneering work of the GPPMM in the field of the hollow-core photonic crystal fibers ( HC- PCF ) and their functionalization form of photonic micro-cell (PMC). The GPPMM enjoys a worldwide reputation as a pioneer and leader in the field of photonics gaseous media "gas photonics fiber" in general and that of HC-PCFs in particular.
The PhoCaL team’s research deals with control of optical propagation in complex structures, generally speaking. More particularly, we study and control the coherence in media and complex systems such as multimode waveguides, arrays of fibers, coupled lasers, etc. with the additional impacts of various nonlinearity and gain. In this context, our activities are multi-disciplinary in connection with nonlinear optics, imaging and lasers.
