The XLIM and IRCER laboratories organized a demonstration day of the ZEISS Crossbeam 550 microscope on Thursday, April 04, 2019, at the European Center for Ceramics. This equipment, unique in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, was acquired by the two laboratories under the State Region Plan Contract (2015-2020) and is part of the development of their joint activities carried out by the Labex Sigma-LIM.

Co-financed by the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund), this equipment is considered a mini laboratory in its own right, because of its many capabilities. Indeed, the device is able to manufacture, manipulate or process by imaging, by 3D reconstruction, objects of nanometric size.

During this day, Mr. Jérôme MIAILHE - Product Specialist in Microscopy and Mr. Smail CHALAL - Demonstrator Europe were able to present the ZEISS group, equipment and perform demonstrations on the device, to the members of the two laboratories and industrialists who had answered this.

There are only 10 such equipment in France.

Owning one of the ten devices of this type is an opportunity for the XLIM and IRCER laboratories that integrate the ZEISS labs@location* community as a reference client in France for ZEISS.

This equipment can be used for academic purposes, by the researchers of the two laboratories, and also by external members including all the scientific and industrial actors of New Aquitaine in the fields of telecommunications, aeronautics, biomaterials or else health.
